Arthritis Support Group

314.953.6831 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The third Wednesday of each month Graham Medical Center 1150 Graham Rd., Suite 104 Florissant, MO 63031 Anyone having one of the more than 100 types of arthritis-- including the three most common types, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia -- is invited to Arthritis Support Group meetings. Spouses, family members and friends are encouraged to attend because significant others experience their own personal impact of arthritis due to the important role they play in the support and care of their loved one. The Arthritis Support Group is taught by physical therapists and assistants, who promote self-management of arthritis through educational programs, social interaction with others who have arthritis and problem-solving techniques to help participants lead more active and fulfilling lives. Goals of Arthritis Support Group: provide an opportunity for participants to verbalize feelings, concerns and problems related to arthritis provide an open environment where participants give mutual support and encouragement encourage positive social interaction among participants through sharing of experiences and group problem-solving encourage participants to become role models who promote a proactive lifestyle dealing with their arthritis educate participants about arthritis so they can take an active role managing it The Arthritis Support Group is free but space is limited; please pre-register.
